Julie smashes her fundraising target for Alzheimer’s Society

LNPS staff rallied to support pest control technician Mark Pennell’s wife Julie when she set up a JustGiving page in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. Julie promised to shave and spray her hair if she reached her target of £1,000.

Julie was moved to make this gesture after the passing of her beloved father, David Lawrence. David worked as a Royal Mail employee for over 40 years and is sorely missed by family and colleagues.

With help from her husband’s workmates at LNPS, Julie quickly smashed her target and has so far raised £1,400. Donations are still being accepted.

Pest control technician Mark said: “I’m very grateful for the help of the LNPS team. It means a great deal to Julie to have hit and bear the target so quickly. I can’t thank everyone enough. Alzheimer’s is a horrible disease. Research is so important, and the Alzheimer’s Society doing a fantastic job.”

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive disease that gradually spreads across the brain, causing increased damage. It is the most common cause of dementia in the UK and currently affects over 520,000 people, with figures set to continue to rise.
